Athletes' Target: Olympic Qualifying Standards
April 28, 2008
On 11 October 2007 Steeple Report published a list of the world’s women steeplers who had achieved the “A” standard of 9:46 for entry into 3000m steeple at the 2008 Olympic Games. Three “A” athletes from a nation can compete in the event.

http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/standards/newsid=43175.html provides details about standards including the “window” for qualifying, 1 January 2007 to 23 July 2008, and what type of meets that are acceptable for qualifying. (There is also a “B” standard of 9:55 for nations with only one athlete in an event.)

Emily Brown of USA joined the “A” list with a 9:45.38 victory at the 2008 Drake Relays. Rasa Troup of Lithuania was well well under “B” standard with 9:51.28 (as was Delilah DiCres-cenzo of USA with 9:51.49 on April 18 at the Mt. SAC Relays).
