Olympic Stadium at Beijing has steeplechase water jump (shown ^ above) at optimal location closer to finishing straightaway than to backstretch, plus a long / straight entry path to pit, a similar exit, and a soft return to oval track. – Photo by Troy Engle
When modern tracks changed to shorter straightaways and longer turns, the previously suggested location for final hurdle and preceding water jump needed related changes.

Troy Engle of U.S. Olympic Committee confirmed, with photo above yesterday, that the optimal steeple layout is evident at Beijing’s stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games. | Return to News
