STEEPLE PRODIGY
Brigid Carey of Mountain Brook High School (Birmingham, Alabama-USA) is far ahead of the field at the last water jump of Volunteer Classic meet on 21 April 2006 where she won the 2000-meter steeplechase in 7:29.50 record time. Carey, a 16-year-old sophomore, is only 5 feet 3 inches (1.60m) tall and was running her first-ever steeple race but she has "barrier endurance" from running cross-country hills. -- Photo by James Fields
