USA SteepleChics Racing Overseas this Summer

US steeplechasers are competing in Europe and Brazil this summer. So far, Lisa Galaviz has raced in Rethymno, Greece, where she placed 3rd and set a new PR and Olympic "A" Standard of 9:38.94. Kelly Strong was 5th in that race in a solid 9:49.52. Carrie Messner and Kara June raced in Arras, France, on July 15, with Messner winning easilly in 9:55 and June finishing 4th in her first international race in 10:14. Conditions were "hot and windy".

On Wednesday, July 25, in Leuven, Belgium, Galaviz and Messner will rabbit the 5000m races, and Kara June is hoping to get into the 1500m.

At the KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden, Beligum, on Saturday, July 28, Galaviz will compete and Messner will be the rabbit in the steeplechase.

Also on Saturday, Desiraye Osburn and Kristin Anderson will represent the USA in the steeplechase at the Pan-American Games in Brazil.

In the steeple at Thessaloniki, Greece, on July 30th, Messner, Galaviz and Strong will all be competing.
