USA Championships DetailsApril 19, 2005
|
---|
USA Track and Field updated its website on April 15 with details for athletes wishing to enter the 2005 USA championships on June 23-26 at Carson, between Los Angeles and Long Beach.
http://www.usatf.org/events/2005/USAOutdoorTFChampionships/ is the URL for USA Championships that will serve as the selection meet for USA team going to the 2005 World Championships August 6-14 at Helsinki, Finland.
http://www.usatf.org/events/2005/USAJuniorOutdoorTFChampionships/ is the URL for USA Junior Championships that will serve as the selection meet for USA team going to the 2005 Pan American Junior Championships July 28-31 at Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
At each of those USATF website locations, there are five sections: Schedule & Results, Ticket Information, Athlete Information, Entry Information, and Status of Entries.
Clicking on each of those sections will provide useful information that should be read carefully by those hoping to participate, probably starting with "Athlete Information" and "Entry Information" including the important entry deadline of 12 June 2005. (The women's steeplechase schedule and qualifying entry standards appeared in a Steeplechics website story on April 7.)
"Status of Entries" will later show who has entered and their status that includes meeting the entry standards. As competition progresses the "Results" portion will be updated.
Ticket Information includes prices, a seating map for the Carson venue, and instructions for ordering advance tickets. Prices range from $60 for an unreserved seat on the west-side backstretch to $175 for a reserved seat in the first two rows of the east-side homestretch. Prices do not include an "AEG" handling fee of $10. There is no indication of lower prices for students, children, or senior citizens.as is done for other meets such as the "Prefontaine" Grand Prix.
Selected files can be printed from the USATF website. To get all the information packaged, click on "Full Entry Booklet" link at the bottom of "Athlete Information" to access an inclusive PDF file. This may be useful to coaches with multiple athletes in different events or to media sports journalists. | Return to News
