World Championships Information
November 14, 2005
Revised entry standards have been announced by the IAAF for its next world championships -- at Nagai Stadium in Osaka City, Japan, from August 25 (Saturday) to September 2 (Sunday), 2007

For women's 3000-meters steeplechase the "A" standard will be 9 minutes 48 seconds; the "B" standard will be 9:58.

The qualification period is from 1 January 2006 through midnight Monaco time on 13 August 2007. Athletes younger than age 16 as of 31 December 2007 cannot be entered.

Qualifying times must be achieved in competitions certified by the IAAF national member federation; example: USATF in the USA. Performances made in "mixed" (male and female) competition will not be accepted.

Each nation can enter as many as four athletes if at least three have achieved the "A" standard; the fourth athlete can be either a "B" qualifier or another "A" qualifier. However, only three of those entrants will be allowed to compete.

If a nation has no "A" qualifiers, it can enter two "B" qualifiers but only one of them will be allowed to compete.
