USA athletes for the 2009 World Youth Championships will be selected via a two-day "World Youth Track & Field Trials" in Ypsilanti, Michigan, next June 30-July 1 – less than two weeks before the 2009 IAAF World Youth Championships (July 8-12) in Bressanone, Italy.
Previously the U.S. team was selected by a committee reviewing performances of athletes who had competed during the previous year in one of three national meets conducted by USA Track and Field.
The finals-only girls 2000m steeplechase trial will be contested at 10:15 Tuesday morning, 30 June 2008. The meet venue, about 30 miles west of Detroit, can be seen at:

The qualifying standard for trials entry is 7:38.30 – to be achieved between 24 June 2008 and 22 June 2009. Only athletes born in 1992 or 1993 are eligible to compete. More at:
