Women Steeplers on the USA Ekiden SquadOctober 28, 2009

Women steeplers have been selected for two of the three female positions on the Team USA squad going to Japan for the 21st annual International Chiba Ekiden, a marathon relay on November 23.
Mixed teams of men and women run six alternating legs: First is men 5 kilometers; second is women 5 km; third leg is men 10 km; fourth is women 5 km; fifth leg is men 10 km; sixth is women 7.195 km.
Steeplers Lindsay Allen and Carrie Messner Vickers will handle two of the women's legs in the Ekiden at Chiba, Japan. Meghan Armstrong is the third USA runner; Jennifer Donovan has been named as USA women's alternate.
Other nations announced for this international marathon relay include: Australia, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Great Britain, Romania, Russia and Sweden. |
