Planning and preparations continue for the first-ever Youth Olympic Games scheduled 14-26 August 2010 at Singapore.
Meanwhile the 2014 edition of YOG was awarded this past week to Nanjing, China by a 47-42 vote over Poznan, Poland.
This quadrennial meeting of teen-age athletes in varied sports is for ages 14-18. More at Local Organizing Committee website:

However, for track and field athletics at Singapore’s Games the stated age range is 16 or17 – born in 1993 or 1994. For Nanjing that would be born in 1997 or 1998. So athletes born
in 1995 or 1996 could not be eligible for either YOG edition.
The athletics portion of 2010 Youth Olympic Games is August 20-25.The steeple competition distance is 2000 meters.
