Four USA steeplers in World X-Country Champs

Four steeplers are on the USA team going to the IAAF World Cross-Country Championships on March 28 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Three will compete in the 8000-meter senior championship: Renee Metivier Baillie of Boulder, Colorado; Emily Brown of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Amy Hastings of Flagstaff, Arizona. Of these, Brown has the fastest 3000m steeple time -- 9:45.38.

At the 2010 USA Cross Country Championships last month 18 Hastings placed third in the senior 8000m event with a 26:05.7 time. Baillie was fifth in 26:25.6 and Brown was seventh in 26:54.5

The fourth USA steepler going to Poland is Shelby Greany of Providence, Rhode island, who will run the 6000-meter "Junior" Championship race for athletes age 16-19 (born 1991-1994). Greany won the 2008 U.S. National High School championship 2000m steeple in 6:42.86. Now age 18 and attending Providence College, she won the 2010 USA Junior Championship Cross Country (6000m) in 20:26.7.
