Eugene to host 2014 World Junior ChampionshipsDecember 1, 2011

The International Association of Athletics Federations has
awarded its 2014 World Junior Championships (for athletes age 16 through 19 on 31 December 2014) to Eugene, Oregon, USA.
Eugene’s Register-Guard newspaper reportedly has shown July 22-27 of 2014 as likely dates for the championship meet.
Track & Field News editor wrote that World Junior Champs “will almost certainly mandate some overall upgrades to Hayward Field's infrastructure, which is nothing but good for all the other meets that are/will be held there.” That can help steeplers if Eugene reconfigures the location of its water jump runway and pit to the specifications shown at pages 47-54 of the IAAF Track and Field Facilities Manual.
