Seven steeple races in 2010 Diamond LeagueDecember 9, 2009

Elite lady steeplers can look forward to a Happy New Year as their event gets equal billing in the new “Diamond League” replacing much of the IAAF Grand Prix program.
Each of the 14 League meets will offer about half of the events in Olympic stadia program. So women’s steeplechase will be contested at these Golden League meets in 2010:

| August 27 | Memorial van Damme | Brussels, BEL |
(Men steeplers compete mostly in other Diamond League meets.)
More world-class steepling opportunities:
The 2010 version of the “Continental Cup,” formerly labeled “World Cup,” is scheduled September 4-5 at Split, Croatia.
Teams will represent four continents: Americas, Africa, Asia/Oceania, and Europe. Eight places will score; prizes start at $30,000 for the winner of each event. Women’s steeplechase is scheduled to start at 17:25 on Sunday, September 5.
IAAF World Challenge Meetings
Also on the 2010 Calendar are 13 “IAAF World Challenge” meets from March 4 at Melbourne to September 1 in Zagreb
Women’s steeplechase has previously been included at some of the other listed venues such as Belem, BRA; Ostrava, CZE; Athens, GRE; and Rieti, ITA. However, events for each of the “World Challenge” meets of 2010 have not yet been announced.
