USA University Championships, 2007

Student athletes end their season with championship meets of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association, 3 divisions) or the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

NCAA Division 1 Championship meet is June 6-9 at Sacramento, California -- preceded by four regional qualifying meets May 25-26: East at Gainesville, Florida; Mideast at Columbia, Missouri; Midwest at Des Moines, Iowa; West at Eugene Oregon. The entry standard is 10:50 for regionals where steeplers usually run once, in timed sections. The final meet schedule is not yet posted; in past years there were heats on Day 2 (Thursday) and a final on Day 4 (Saturday).

NCAA Division 2 has no regional meets. Its national championship is May 24-26 at Charlotte, North Carolina -- with two standards for lady steeplers -- 10:20 for "automatic" entry, 11:27 for "provisional." The 2007 meet schedule is not yet posted but in recent years the steeplers have run heats on Day 1 and a final on Day 3. .

NCAA Division 3 has no regional meets. Its national championship is May 24-26 at Oshkosh, Wisconsin with two standards for lady steeplers -- 10:48 for "automatic" entry, 11:16.50 for "provisional." Steeplers will run only once (no heats) at 1930 on May 25, the second day of the meet.

NAIA Championship is May 24-26 at Fresno, California -- with two entry standards for lady steeplers: an 11:33 "A" standard and a 11:47.50 "B" standard. Steeplers will run twice -- heats at 1930 on May 24, finals at 1400 on May 26.
